UPI 및 뉴욕포스트의 트위터 계정이 하이재킹되어, "3차 세계 대전 발발" 등의 가짜 헤드라인 뉴스가 트위터에 게시되었다. 이번 공격은 미국 중부사령부의 유투브 및 트위터 계정 공격 바로 후에 발생하였다. AFP, BBC 등 많은 언론기관들이 지난 2년간 사이버공격 대상이 되고 있다.
